I wish everyone could publish with one of my publishers… I’ve signed 3 books with Wild Ink Publishing, 3 books with Scarsdale Publishing and 1 book with Conquest Publishing. But unfortunately, they aren’t open all the time for all the things. But guess what? YOU can still get a book deal.
The small indie pub market is flourishing right now! There are a ton of fabulous presses open to submission at the moment. Which means, even if you have struck out finding an agent, or you have recently fired your agent, you can still find a home for your book baby. At the end of the day, that’s what we all want right? To find a home for our books– so they can reach our #TargetAudience.
So I’m going to share a few publishers with you. I’ve compiled this list from years of subbing and tracking and making friends in the industry. Please do your homework, find a publisher that feels right to you, and follow their instructions for submitting.
If you happen to get a book deal, please make sure to reach out to me and let me know! I can’t wait to root for you and cheer you along your journey. Because I know you do the same for me!!
Interlude Press - According to their website they are seeking well-crafted original novels featuring diverse casts with lead characters from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and welcome and encourage manuscripts written by authors from all backgrounds.
Little Press Publishing - Per their website, they are currently considering Middle Grades and Young Adult fiction. Make sure to check their catalog to see what they are interested in.
Harpeth Road - They are currently seeking women’s fiction, contemporary romance, historical romance, and southern fiction.
Zibby Media - They are a women-led boutique publishing house driven by a sense of purpose. They publish books that make readers think and feel while elevating and celebrating authors.
Red Adept Publishing - They are currently accepting the following genres: Women’s Fiction, Romance, Chick-Lit, Mystery (General, Police, Cozy), and Thriller-Suspense.
Storm Publishing - They are excited by gripping, dramatic stories that have them turning the pages and by real, flawed and passionate heroes who make them care. Those ingredients matter more than anything else.
Well, I wish you all the best of luck on your submission journey. I know it can be hard! The query trenches are tragic, the ghost rate is scary, and it can be easy to lose sight of why you started this journey in the first place. If you’re feeling anxious, check out my post on Impostor Syndrome. It is TOTALLY NORMAL. But keep going.
I promise you can do it!
