Hey friends! Welcome to the first Indie Author Spotlight Bonus Episode!! Hopefully you read the feature on Diane over on The Writer's Workout website, where I'm a volunteer. If not, get your butt back over there to learn more about our featured author, Diane Billas. Well, after you read this first!

So, Diane, what does your writing ritual look like?
I wake up at 5:30, exercise, shower, get my breakfast together and then write from 7:30-9 a.m. before I sign onto my day job. I always have my black decaf coffee and start writing in my office. I also sometimes write on the weekends when my son is napping.
Okay, so people love giving advice. What’s the worst advice you’ve ever received as an Indie Author?
That other authors are your competition. I think of it more as other authors are my colleagues and friends. We support each other and are each others biggest advocates, especially in the indie community.
What’s your go to book, movie or musical artist when you need some inspiration (or just a break from the keyboard)? Why?
I listen to classical music. I’m a classically trained piano player and French horn player, so listening to classical music is my jam, and helps the creativity start to flow. If that doesn’t work, I take a break and play on the piano.

If you could snap your fingers and be “known” for one piece of your writing, what would it be? Is it something already published? Or is it something in your heart you’ve not yet written?
I’m working on a new book, one where I only have 6,000 words down, but I have to say I am really excited about it. It’s going to be an adult book and deals with gaslighting, and I know I’m going to pour my heart and soul into it.
Any other tidbits you wanna share?
I’m a huge Marvel nerd, which is why my second book is a superhero book. I’ve seen every single Marvel movie and TV show.
